Nick joined the Marine Corps in 1999 as a diesel mechanic and served until 2005 when he was medically discharged. Nick got into the sport of shooting after participating in the 2010 Warrior Games where he met shooting coach Bob Foth. Foth invited Nick to a veteran's team camp and his love for the sport continued to develop. Nick continues to compete as he works to qualify for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
